In November, I joined Chris & Claudia in the outter grounds of Chatsworth House for their Engagement Photoshoot. A overcast, rainy and autumnal afternoon made for some gorgeous moments framed by the vibrant colours of the peak district and encapsulating Chris & Claudia’s endearing connection.

Cinematic engagement photos at Chatsworth House

Renowned for being Mr Darcy’s home in Pride and Prejudice, Chatsworth House is an incredibly famous landmark in Derbyshire visited by locals and guest from across the world. Luckily for Chris and Claudia, it’s just a stones throw from their house in Belper and they frequently visit and explore it together. So it was no surprise that they wanted to book their engagement shoot here before spending the rest of their afternoon at Chatsworth’s incredible Christmas market.

Exploring Pains Mill near the River Derwent

After parking near the Chatsworth Garden centre, we began taking photos within the south grounds of Chatsworth – close to One Arch Bridge and Pains Mill near the River Derwent. Quiet, secluded and expansive and the perfect spot for Chris and Claudia to run free and roam the gorgeous Derbyshire countryside. During the engagement photoshoot, it continued to rain on and off which made for some really fun prompts. At one point, it was raining heavily, so I gave Chris direction to grab Claudia’s hand and seek shelter under a tree. Making a moment full of laughter, excitement and fun; creating one of my favourite photos from this entire shoot.

Sweeping Landscapes of the Peak District

We eventually made our way through the grounds and headed up towards a hill overlooking Chatsworth House. It was quite busy, with it being a Sunday and the Christmas Market newly opened, so we stayed in the distant grounds. The sweeping landscape of the Peak District made for a stunning backdrop, with autumn hues and adding a cinematic feel to the photos. Throughout the shoot, it was so lovely to see Chris and Claudia sharing quiet moments together as well as organic moments of laughter and channeling their fun and playful nature.
